One of the nation’s top junior college players didn’t have to travel too far to visit Penn State today, after all.

Jermaine Eluemunor is a 6-foot-, 300-pound offensive tackle from Lackawanna Community College in Scranton. He originally is from London (just like former Penn State defensive end Jack Crawford) and his parents currently reside in New Jersey.

Eluemunor also is being pursued by Alabama, Ohio State, Florida State, Oklahoma, UCLA and others.

He reportedly has built a strong relationship with Penn State offensive line coach Mac McWhorter and is making the Nittany Lions his first recruiting visit.

Lions247.com, a website specializing in Penn State recruiting and athletic news, lists Eluemunor as the No. 1 JUCO player in the nation.

One of Bill O’Brien’s top recruiting and, hopefully, future coaching projects: JUCO lineman Jermaine Eluemunor.

“He’s a ready-now type of guy,” said Greg Pickel, a recruiting analyst with FightOnState.com. “He wouldn’t need a lot of (training) to get there, physically. He’s ready now.”

Eluemunor also is highly-regarded because he expects to enroll early in January at the university of his choice — which means his scholarship would count against a team’s 2013 recruiting allotment, where Penn State still has three spots open.

That, in turn, would allow the Penn State coaching staff to take Eluemunor and an additional offensive tackle for the 2014 recruiting class.

Wherever he goes, he will have three years to use his two remaining seasons of eligibility.

Eluemunor also plans to make recruiting visits to Texas A&M in October and Ohio State in late November and possibly a couple of others.
